Sachem East Girls Volleyball Coach Amanda Katz Earns Milestone 200th Career Victory

Sachem East girls volleyball coach Amanda Katz reached a career milestone, recording her 200th career win as the Arrows continue their strong season on the court.

Katz, a longtime leader of the Sachem East volleyball program, has built a culture of consistency, teamwork, and family through her years of dedication.

Since taking over the program, she has guided hundreds of athletes, more than 300, by her own count, while shaping not just skilled volleyball players but strong young women who represent Sachem with pride.

“I love this program and the over 300 SEGVV athletes who helped me learn and grow over the years,” Katz said. “I’m grateful for the coaches I am so lucky to have by my side, helping me make sense of madness, and helping me make sense in general — you are my people. Thank you for the celebration — my heart is full.”

Sportsmanship on Display Between John Glenn and Wyandanch

The John Glenn High School girls volleyball team earned a 3-0 victory over Wyandanch recently, but the true highlight of the evening extended far beyond the scoreboard.

While the Knights secured a straight-set win, the match became a celebration of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and the unifying power of athletics. Players from both teams danced, laughed, and bonded together after the game, creating an atmosphere that underscored the deeper values of high school athletics.

The joy shared on the court reflected the essence of interscholastic sports, bringing students together through competition, while also building respect, friendships, and memories that last long after the final whistle.

Lindenhurst Volleyball Hosts Teacher Appreciation Event

The Lindenhurst Girls Varsity Volleyball team, led by Coach Kait Williams, hosted a teacher appreciation event during a match this month.

Members of the team invited a teacher who the athletes themselves described as having ” had a significant impact on their time here at Lindenhurst High School!”
Before the match, each teacher was announced, the athlete gave them a rose, and they were escorted onto the court to be thanked and honored by the crowd.
It was a very touching tribute to the impact teachers have on the lives of students and athletes.
Lindy won the match, 3-0, to cap off a memorable day.
