West Islip Boys Soccer Ranked No. 20 in US

West Islip boys soccer finished the 2021 ranked No. 20 in the nation on the United Soccer Coaches Poll after winning its first NYSPHSAA championship in school history.

The Lions finished with a 20-2-1 record. The Section XI title they won was their first since 1973.

“The 2021 West Islip boys soccer team is the most skilled, talented high school team I have ever seen,” said West Islip Athletic Director Tim Horan. “Their offense couldn’t be stopped, resulting in many individual and team records being broken. And their defense shut out most opponents, only giving up one goal in the state playoffs. In addition to their tremendous athletic ability, they also represented themselves throughout the entire season with class…and as true sportsmen.”
