It’s been a memorable senior season for Mount Sinai’s Joey Spallina, the No. 1 lacrosse recruit in the country.
Spallina, who is headed to play at Syracuse, was named the USA Lacrosse Magazine National High School Boys’ Player of the Year.
Last week he earned the Lt. Ray Enners Award as the top player in Suffolk County and the Bob Scott Award as the top attackman in the county.
He finished his high school career with 507 points, a Long Island scoring record.
His Mustangs also captured a Long Island championship.
Pat-Med senior pitcher Josh Knoth was named the best baseball player in Suffolk County and honored with the highly coveted the Carl Yastrzemski Award.
Knoth, who threw a perfect game in April against Riverhead, was 5-2 with a 0.86 ERA. He had 93 strikeouts and four walks.
Middle Country Boys Lacrosse has won the Team Up 4 Community Spring Sports Heroes Community Service Challenge.
Their event – “Goals for Giving event” – was selected as the top moment of giving during the spring sports season.
