East Islip, John Glenn Represent Section XI at NYS Dual Meet Championships
East Islip and John Glenn qualified for the New York State Dual Meet Championship held in Syracuse at the SRC Arena last weekend.
After losing a close match to Ballston Spa in the first round, East Islip rebounded with a big victory over Hilton from Section V. They advanced to the state semifinals due to criteria that put them ahead of their previous opponents, but they lost to Minisink Valley.
John Glenn had a first-round bye and beat Saranac (VIII), 57-14, in the second round. The Knights lost to Canisteo-Greenwood (V), 36-32, in the third round.

Kings Park’s Matt Garside Reaches 1,000 Points
Kings Park’s Matt Garside reached career point No. 1,000 in January.
He is only the sixth player in Kings Park history to reach this milestone.

East Hampton Winter Track Student-Athletes Set New Records
- 400m: Ryleigh O’Donnell – 64.06
- 4x400m Relay: Leslie Samuel, Melina Sarlo, Meredith Spolarich, and Ryleigh O’Donnell – 4:13.74
- Sprint Medley Relay: Meredith Spolarich, Melina Sarlo, Leslie Samuel, and Ryleigh O’Donnell – 4:31.09
Rocky Point’s Alexandra Viera Wins Inaugural NYS Wrestling Title
Congratulations to Alexandra Viera from Rocky Point High School on winning the inaugural New York State Girls Wrestling Invitational at 126 pounds!

Alexandra Kelly Sets Princeton Triple Jump Record
Rocky Point native Alexandra Kelly is off to a strong start in her collegiate track and field career.
Last year’s New York State champion in the triple jump and the No. 1 ranked triple jumper in the country as a senior, Kelly made history at Princeton this season when she set a school record of 13.04m in the triple jump.
William Floyd Girls Track Records Setting School Records
William Floyd’s 4 x 800 meter relay team of Aaliyah Jordan, Destiny Samuels, Brianna Smith and Zariel Macchia broke a school record at the Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival, finishing with a time of 9:56.40.
At the same competition, Zariel Macchia recorded a No. 1 time in the nation running the two mile in 10:33.22.
With that performance, the 4 x 800 meter relay team qualified for the Millrose Games on January 11, which saw them finish second with a time of 9:46.23, another school record.
This effort has qualified them for the New Balance Nationals Indoor at the Armory in March.
