Let’s Go Suffolk … Football LIC is Upon Us!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year … the football Long Island championships!

The top four teams in Suffolk will go against the top four in Nassau in respective conferences.

Games will be held at Hofstra on Friday and Stony Brook on Saturday.

Section XI News

Suffolk County Football Champions Crowned

It has been an incredible few days of championship football action in Suffolk County.

The Division I-IV champs have been crowded and will now represent our county in the Long Island championships next weekend.

Here’s a look at the final scores

  • Division I: Lindenhurst 35, William Floyd 12
  • Division II: North Babylon 30, West Islip 6
  • Division III: Westhampton Beach 28, Hills West 14
  • Division IV: Miller Place 33, West Islip 25

The Long Island championships will take place on November 24 at Hofstra and November 26 at Stony Brook. There is a $7 admission charge.

  • Division IV: Nov. 24, Hofstra, Noon:  Miller Place v. Seaford
  • Division II: Nov. 24, Hofstra, 4:30 p.m.: North Babylon v. Garden City
  • Division III: Nov. 26, Stony Brook, Noon: Westhampton Beach v. Lawrence
  • Division I: Nov. 26, Stony Brook, 4:30 p.m.: Lindenhurst v. Oceanside

Another busy weekend of playoff sports ahead for our Suffolk County student-athletes.

Here’s a quick look at what you can look forward to:

Football

  • Thursday, Nov. 16: Division IV Championship – Miller Place v. Babylon, 7p at SBU
  • Friday, Nov. 17: Division II – West Islip v. North Babylon, 7p at SBU
  • Saturday, Nov. 18: Division III – Westhampton vs. Hills West, Noon at SBU
  • Saturday, Nov. 18: Division I – Lindenhurst v. Floyd, 4p at SBU

Girls Swimming and Diving

  • Nov. 17-18: NYSPHSAA Championship, Ithaca College (Sec IV)

Suffolk Runners Finish Strong at NYSPHSAA Championships

Dozens of student-athletes from Section XI competed in the New York State Cross Country championships at Wayne Central School on November 11.

CLASS A

  • Top Suffolk finisher, male: Carlos Santos: 16:52.10, No. 18
  • Top Suffolk school, male: Smithtown, No. 4
  • Smithtown’s Gabrielle Schneider was the top female finisher with a time of 20:33.30, good enough for No. 23 overall.
  • Top Suffolk school, female: Sachem East, No. 7

CLASS B

  • Top Suffolk finisher, male:  Joey Krause, 17:34.60, No. 29
  • Top Suffolk school, male: East Hampton, No. 9
  • Top Suffolk finisher, female: 20:07.90, No. 1!
  • Top Suffolk school, female: Mt. Sinai, No. 3

CLASS C

PJ’s Shane DeVincenzo Wins Suffolk Golf Title

Shane DeVincenzo from Port Jefferson won the Suffolk County individual golf championship this year.

Section XI Championship Info: Weekend of Nov. 10-12

You may have been referring to our overall championship page for all upcoming key Section XI and NYSPHSAA events, but we broke out the games/matches for Nov. 11 and Nov. 12 to make it easier since there is a ton of action going on across the county and state!

Here’s a look at what you can expect this weekend:

Cross Country

  • 11/11 – NYSPHSAA Championship, Wayne Central School

Field Hockey: NYSPHSAA Championship, Maine-Endwell  (Sec IV)

  • 11/11 – Semi-Final, Class A: Ward Melville vs. Baldwinsville, 9:30 am
  • (NEW!) 11/12 – Finals, Class A: Ward Melville vs Maine-Endwell, 12 pm

Football

  • Still in Division I, II, III and IV semifinals, so there are 16 teams left to play on Friday, Nov. 10 and Saturday, Nov. 11
