The Bay Shore-Brentwood combined girls swimming team has been named as a Scholar Team by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association of America, Inc.
“As an exemplary team you can take great pride in this accomplishment,” said Marney Shirley, Academic All America Chair of the NISCAA.
There have been some time changes on upcoming playoff basketball games due to impending poor weather.
The girls Class B and Class C regional games will be moved from Wednesday, March 7 to Tuesday, March 6.
Class B: Mattituck will play Carle Place at 5:30 p.m.
Class C: Mercy will play East Rockaway at 7:30 p.m.
Games will take place at Hills West High School and there is a $7 admission fee.

Amityville beat Hills East, 77-69, to win the overall Suffolk County boys basketball championship on Sunday, March 4.

Nicole Jackson was the lone Suffolk County gymnast to win a New York State championship in an individual event.
Jackson won the vault with a score of 9.75 during the state championships held at Cold Spring Harbor High School on Saturday, March 3.
Section XI placed third overall as a regional in the state tournament as well.
Commack beat Hauppauge, 52-48, in the overall Suffolk County girls basketball championship.
Top-seeded Commack, as well as the other top schools from Class A, B and C, will battle in the Long Island championship/regional state qualifier events starting on March 7.

*Boys: Hills East vs. Amityville will play Sun, March 4 at 3:30p at Farmingdale
The New York State Public High School Athletic Association Inc. (NYSPHSAA) is making changes to the start times of several State Championship events to be contested on Saturday March 3. The changes are necessary because of the major snow storm that has affected much of New York State.
Event starts will be delayed by four hours at the Track and Field State Championships at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, the Cheerleading State Championships at the SRC Arena in Syracuse, the Gymnastics State Championships at Cold Spring Harbor High School, and the Rifle Regional Championship at West Point.
There will no changes to the schedule at the Boys Swimming and Diving State Championships at the Nassau Aquatic Center in East Meadow.
The new start times on Saturday March 3rd are as follows:
“We feel like delaying these events by four hours gives our student-athletes and coaches the best opportunity to get to the venues safely and still compete for a Championship”, Robert Zayas NYSPHSAA Executive Director. “This storm has impacted a large portion of the state, and we want to allow people extra time to travel to our State and Regional Championships. We want to thank the venues for allowing us to adjust the schedules and working with us to have the most successful Championships possible.”
