Mount Sinai’s Joey Spallina Wraps Legendary HS Career
It’s been a memorable senior season for Mount Sinai’s Joey Spallina, the No. 1 lacrosse recruit in the country.
Spallina, who is headed to play at Syracuse, was named the USA Lacrosse Magazine National High School Boys’ Player of the Year.
Last week he earned the Lt. Ray Enners Award as the top player in Suffolk County and the Bob Scott Award as the top attackman in the county.
He finished his high school career with 507 points, a Long Island scoring record.
His Mustangs also captured a Long Island championship.
Pat-Med’s Josh Knoth Wins Yaz Award
Pat-Med senior pitcher Josh Knoth was named the best baseball player in Suffolk County and honored with the highly coveted the Carl Yastrzemski Award.
Knoth, who threw a perfect game in April against Riverhead, was 5-2 with a 0.86 ERA. He had 93 strikeouts and four walks.
Middle Country Boys Lacrosse Wins Spring Sports Heroes Challenge
Middle Country Boys Lacrosse has won the Team Up 4 Community Spring Sports Heroes Community Service Challenge.
Their event – “Goals for Giving event” – was selected as the top moment of giving during the spring sports season.

Bay Shore Athletics Serves Community with Cleanup
Bay Shore student-athletes spent time cleaning up the island next to their high school and dedicated a bench to former Marauders passed away too early.
Port Jefferson Baseball’s Abby Rolfe Makes History
During the 50th anniversary of Title IX, it’s perfect that Abby Rolfe has made history as a young woman paving the way in Section XI.
Rolfe, a senior at Port Jefferson High School, just finished an incredible varsity baseball season, hitting .438 with 29 RBI, 15 runs scored, four stolen bases and 19 walks. She also had a .571 on-base percentage and 1.093 OPS.
She is also the first young woman to record hits in the Section XI playoffs.
For her efforts she is now the first young woman to be named as All-County in baseball in Section XI history.
