Longwood’s varsity cheer team placed second in the Long Island Spring Sports Heroes Community Service Challenge
Nassau County’s Syosset won the spring challenge.
Longwood’s video “Blessings in a Backpack” shows the cheer team working together to pack over 600 bags of food to send home with students on the Federal free and reduced lunch program in the Longwood Community.
This Spring Challenge recorded 9,126 athletes performing over 53,322 hours of community service across Long Island. This is valued at an economic impact of $450,571 given back to our communities in service. These athletes also raised $363,775 towards their charitable causes, according to the W20 Foundation.
