This week’s Orlin & Cohen Game of the Week, broadcast by T&D Sports, will feature the Suffolk County Division I semifinal between Sachem North and Ward Melville.

The T&D Sports Game of the Week features a first round playoff football game between No. 2 Sachem North (6-2) and No. 7 Walt Whitman (4-4) on Friday, November 3 at 6:30 p.m.

Congratulations to Smithtown West’s Jack Melore on setting the all-time Long Island Career Receiving Yard and Career Reception record during Week 7!
Lights, camera, action … earlier this season, Bayport-Blue Point High School debuted new field lights and played its first night games. Wishing their community fun and safe evening experiences for many years to come!
East Hampton High School celebrated 100 years of football this weekend on the east end.
Their program combined homecoming with an anniversary celebration commemorating a century of Bonacker football.
East Hampton lost to Harborfields, but it didn’t overshadow the generations of players, coaches, and fans who came out for the event.
What’s a Bonacker, might you ask? A Bonac was a group of people who were most likely original settlers in East Hampton, but the name has evolved to include anyone on the east end making a living as baymen, fishermen, and farmers, or, in this case, those who attend East Hampton High School.
The Bonackers had its most successful and undefeated season in 1952 (pictured above) and won a Suffolk County championship again in 1981. They also lost title games in 1973 and 1994.
Here’s to another 100 years!
Lindenhurst’s JV football team, led by coaches Mike Cheskay, Kevin Cullen, and Dennis Spinelli, paid tribute to the FDNY and all the first responders by running 22 100-yard sprints in honor of the 2200 steps that the heroes ran up that day to save lives.
The coaches said they thought teaching these young men a valuable lesson about bravery and sacrifice on such a historic day was important.

The 2.54-mile race will take place on October 22 at 10 a.m. Wildwood State Park, Wading River, NY.
It is sponsored by the Wildcat Athletic Club.
