We didn’t want to forget to give a shoutout to William Floyd wrestling … for the first time in more than four decades, the Colonials claimed a League 1 Dual Meet championship.
The Colonials secured the historic title with a dramatic 28–26 victory over Brentwood, marking William Floyd’s first League 1 dual meet championship since 1983.
The narrow win capped off a memorable regular season and delivered a milestone moment for the program.
Shoreham-Wading River freshman Shane Cowan reached a remarkable milestone on his home mat, earning the 100th win of his young career during the Wildcats’ semifinal matchup.
Reaching 100 career victories is an impressive feat at any level, but accomplishing it as a freshman underscores Cowan’s talent, work ethic, and competitive poise.
Making the moment even more meaningful, the milestone win came as part of a team effort that helped propel Shoreham-Wading River into the Suffolk County finals.
Cowan’s achievement reflects not only individual excellence but also the strength and depth of the Wildcats’ program, as the team continues its postseason run with momentum and confidence.
Congratulations to Shane Cowan on an extraordinary accomplishment and to Shoreham-Wading River on advancing to the county finals!
