Some notes from the NYSPHSAA bowling championships …
*The Section XI Boys Composite bowling team won the NYSPHSAA championship.
*Anthony Manetta of Comeswogue bowled the highest game in the state with a 279.
*Corey Volper won the sportsmanship award from Section XI.
*Congrats to the Section XI girls composite bowling team for placing second at the NYSPHSAA championships!
*Second High Game goes to Ilana Kapla from Commack and Trishna Desai from Smithtown and the 3rd High Game was Ava Mazella from Longwood.
*Kaylee Dwyer from Longwood is the Sportsmanship Award Winner from Section XI.

Congratulations to this year’s Section XI boys bowling singles and doubles champions!
Longwood bowling coach Doug Dwyer has reached career win No. 200.
He has a record of 200-53 in 21 seasons and has led Longwood to seven league titles and two county championships, including last season in 2023.

North Babylon’s bowler freshman bowler Nick Vuono beat the New York State high school series record with an 867. This also tied the nationwide high school series record. Congratulations, Nick!

East Islip bowlers demonstrated the spirit of giving.
They decided to help North Babylon bowling coach Sonny Casale, who recently lost his home to a house fire several weeks ago.
Both the boys and girls Section XI bowling squads won the overall NYSPHSAA team championships held at the OnCenter in Syracuse on Saturday, March 10 and Sunday, March 11.
Middle Country won the girls Division I state championship, while East Islip finished second in the boys Division I tournament.
