NYS Dual Meet Wrestling Championship Info
The New York State Dual Meet Wrestling Championships will take place in Syracuse on January 29.
Brentwood and Shoreham-Wading River will represent Section XI.

Longwood’s Taydra Simpson Scores 1,000 Points
Congratulations to Longwood’s Taydra Simpson on scoring 1,000 career points!
Simpson is the sixth player in Lions girls hoops to reach the milestone.
CI’s Ciara Solomon Wins Suffolk County Bowling
Central Islip’s Ciara Solomon rolled a perfect 300 game and won the Suffolk County Singles Bowling Tournament. Congrats, Ciara!

Please join us in congratulating the December Section XI-Island Federal student-athlete nominees!
*Naomi Chon of Half Hollow Hills had an excellent fencing season and career for the Cougars. She finished as the No. 1 Suffolk Epee Fencer and had an overall record of 19-2. In addition to her work on the strip, she participates in a cultural unity group called AASO and is a straight “A” student!
*Helena Roy of Center Moriches was a staple on the girls cross country team. Along with her blazing 5K times, she has a 99.73 GPA (👀!) and is an International Baccalaureate Diploma Candidate.
Both Naomi and Helena are now on the Section XI-Island Federal Scholar-Athlete Watch List and are in contention to receive our Scholar-Athlete Scholarship in June of 2022!

Longwood’s Katelyn Wheeler Bowls Another 300 Game
At the Suffolk County singles/doubles bowling tournament, Longwood senior, Katelyn Wheeler, bowled her SECOND 300 game of the season.
She is the first female bowler in Longwood history to roll a perfect 300 in a match and is believed to be the first female from Longwood to accomplish this twice as well. This is a feat that has not been achieved in Suffolk County girls bowling since the 2016-2017 season.
Wheeler is a returning All-County and All-Long Island bowler for the Lions and was named one of Newsday’s Top 25 girls bowlers for the second year in a row.
Section XI Wrestling Dual Championship Updates
All first round matches took place on Wednesday, January 19. The brackets have been updated.
Semifinal and championship matches will be on Saturday, January 22.
