Two of Section XI’s four schools captured Long Island championships in football over the holiday weekend.
Congratulations to Sayville (Class III) and Bayport-Blue Point (Class IV) on their big wins!
Great job by Bellport (Class II) and Ward Melville (Class I) on their Suffolk County titles and making it to the final weekend of the season.
The Long Island Football Championships take place on Friday, November 25, and Saturday, November 26.

North Babylon’s Savannah Rogers was named Large School Suffolk County Girls Soccer Player of the Year by the Suffolk County Girls Soccer Coaches Association.
Congratulations on the honor, Savannah!
She was also selected All-County and will likely have a number of other regional accolades coming her way soon.

They received a champions’ welcome in town from the local fire department and their families and friends.

Section XI is saddened by the passing of longtime treasurer Larry Light.
A teacher, administrator, and superintendent at Babylon Schools, he worked as a treasurer for Section XI since 2001 where he advised on financial matters.
Light was strategic in helping Section XI move into its current headquarters in the Town of Brookhaven building.
This is a big loss for Section XI and he will be missed.

The Smithtown West soccer program raised more than $17,000 at the annual St. Jude 5k walk/ run.
That’s an incredible amount of fundraising for one program and community!
