Smithtown High School West junior Ryan Napolitano delivered a moment to remember, recording a hole-in-one at Smithtown Landing Golf Club.

Napolitano aced the par-3 seventh hole, an accomplishment golfers at every level dream of. The shot came during team play and was witnessed by teammates, coaches, and competitors alike, making it even more special.

The achievement comes just days after Long Island hosted the prestigious Ryder Cup, and perhaps the excitement from that event provided some added inspiration.

Sayville Varsity Boys Golf Breaks School Record in Victory Over West Islip

The Sayville Varsity Boys Golf team delivered a historic performance, shattering the school scoring record with an impressive team score of 176, finishing four under par.

Led by Coach McLaughlin, the group’s remarkable effort not only set a new program standard but also secured a dominant 9-0 win over West Islip.

The team’s balanced play and steady focus were the difference-makers, as each golfer contributed to the overall success. With this victory, Sayville remains undefeated on the season, showcasing not only its talent but also its dedication to raising the bar for future teams.

Sportsmanship on Display Between John Glenn and Wyandanch

The John Glenn High School girls volleyball team earned a 3-0 victory over Wyandanch recently, but the true highlight of the evening extended far beyond the scoreboard.

While the Knights secured a straight-set win, the match became a celebration of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and the unifying power of athletics. Players from both teams danced, laughed, and bonded together after the game, creating an atmosphere that underscored the deeper values of high school athletics.

The joy shared on the court reflected the essence of interscholastic sports, bringing students together through competition, while also building respect, friendships, and memories that last long after the final whistle.

Riverhead Volleyball Hosts Mental Health Awareness Game in Partnership with Ryan’s Team

Riverhead High School volleyball spotlighted wellness on and off the court, hosting a Mental Health Awareness Game in partnership with Ryan’s Team.

The event centered conversation around reducing stigma, encouraging students to check in on one another, and connecting families with support resources.

Before the first serve, players and coaches participated in a brief moment of reflection and a PSA about recognizing warning signs and seeking help. Throughout the evening, fans saw green ribbons and themed warm-ups in support of mental health awareness. Ryan’s Team representatives were on hand with materials about peer support, stress management, and how to talk to a trusted adult or counselor.

Miller Place’s Ava Fedrich Earns NYSPHSAA Sportmanship Award

Ava Fedrich, a senior from the Miller Place High School Varsity Softball team, was awarded the 2025 NYSPHSAA Sportsmanship Award.
This award was presented to Ava after the Miller Place Panthers clinched their win over Maine Endwell at the New York State Class A Semifinals.
Shortly after earning the honor in June, the Miller Place Panthers took home the State Championship.
This was the second year in a row that Ava was awarded this honor.
