Section XI Athletes Represent USA at U17 Lacrosse National Team Event

Two standout Suffolk County multi-sport athletes proudly represented Team USA as members of the U17 National Lacrosse Team during competition at USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Maryland.

Madison Herr (#4) from Shoreham-Wading River High School and Aliya Leonard (#6) from Ward Melville High School helped lead the U17 squad to an undefeated 5–0 record against Canada — a dominant showing that also included a victory over the USA U19 National Team.

The tournament, hosted at the national training facility in Sparks, Maryland, brought together some of the nation’s top young talent. Herr and Leonard, both known for their athleticism and leadership across multiple sports, showcased their skills on the international stage while representing Section XI and Long Island with pride.

Their contributions highlight the strength of Long Island lacrosse and the depth of talent emerging from local programs that consistently produce elite athletes ready to compete at the highest levels.
